Dogs are also required to be up-to-date with the following vaccinations:

• Canine Influenza
• Negative Fecal Exam

* Please note that dogs older than six months must be spayed or neutered to participate in daycare.

We’ll give you a questionnaire before your stay, to check on behavior, temperament and to ensure that these requirements are met. Since Roaring Brook Kennel provides a social experience to all types of dogs, we use these medical precautions and behavioral requirements to ensure the safety of every pet who enters.

By staying up-to-date on vaccinations and by disclosing all information before admitting your dog to our kennel, we’ll ensure that everyone has a safe time, and give you the confidence that your dog is also surrounded by other pets who have met the same credentials! We know that your dog will absolutely love their time at our kennels and are delighted to provide such a rewarding and healthy experience to your beloved dog while you’re away!

While socialization is a wonderful way for your dog to learn and grow, we also know that playtime experience can lend itself to accidents when dogs are chasing one another, jumping and enjoying each other’s company.

We provide constant supervision to ensure that play remains safe at all times, and if injuries do occur, we have our veterinarians prepared to offer any care necessary.

If your dog gets messy during playtime, we also offer bathing as an option to ensure that your dog can play hard, and still come out of Roaring Brook Kennels clean as a whistle!

Doggy Daycare

Dogs love lots of playtime, attention and companionship—they are man’s best friend, after all.  But leaving your dog home alone for long periods of time may result in separation anxiety and behavioral problems.  Your dog may destroy furniture, have accidents in the house, bark excessively, or become stressed.  Doggy daycare is a safe, fun way for your dog to relieve separation anxiety and make new friends as it is a great tool for socialization.  At Roaring Brook Kennels’ Doggy Daycare, dogs can play, wrestle and romp with lots of other friendly dogs in our indoor/outdoor play areas.

How can daycare help your dog?  Interacting with other dogs helps your dog develop important socialization skills.  Energetic play means your dog gets plenty of exercise and burns off some of that excess energy.  When your dog has activities to keep him or her engaged, destructive behavior is curbed.

About Doggy Daycare

Our Doggy Daycare program is a safe, structured, and most of all, fun environment for your dog.  Each dog has his or her own private “room” with a bed and water bowl.  We provide breakfast or lunch for dogs that need it.  All of our daycare guests settle down for a midday nap at about lunch time.  Our trained staff of two members constantly monitor the play area while paying close attention to each dog’s behavior and physical ability.

Why choose Roaring Brook Kennels Doggy Daycare?

The quality of our care begins with the kindness and compassion of the people who work with your pets. Our doggie daycare is staffed by animal lovers who are trained by an experienced obedience trainer on the finer points of making Daycare a fun AND safe experience for your pet.

Roaring Brook Kennels offers large inside AND outside play areas. Your best friend can get some sun and fresh air while playing king of the mountain outside, and when the weather isn’t cooperating they can play in our large, clean, and comfortable indoor play area with rubber flooring. All of this exercise and stimulation makes for a happier, healthier dog who has better social skills, fewer problems with weight and general health, a stronger immune system, less anxiety, and less trouble sleeping!

Our relationship with Roaring Brook Veterinary Hospital means that if the need arises, your pet will have instant access to the highest quality veterinary care. In addition, our Kennel staff is trained in Pet CPR and First Aid. We require that all animals in our care have current Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella, and Canine Influenza vaccinations. In addition we also require a clean stool sample annually. This helps ensure that your pet returns to you in the same state of good health they were in when you dropped them off.

Roaring Brook Kennels is the most complete pet care institution in the state. While your four-legged friend is in our care, they can relax for a weekend stay, attend doggie daycare, or even have a spa day with our professional groomer! Where else can you do all of this in one place?

We know you want the best care for your pet at the best price. That’s why we offer you several different ways to customize your time with us. For example, our “Leader of the Pack” boarding package bundles boarding, daycare, and a bath, saving you up to 45% on our services. We also offer multi-day and monthly doggie daycare packages that can bring your costs to just over 19 dollars per day! We work hard to make it easy to provide your pet with the fun, socialization, and stimulation they crave!

At Roaring Brook Kennels, we are looking for a long term relationship with you and your pet. We make it a point to know what your dog LOVES, and what they don’t. We take the time to get to know your dog’s personality, because we believe it’s the best way to help them get the most out of their time with us. The more time we spend with your trusted companion, the more our friendship with them grows, which is why Roaring Brook is the next best place to home!

Requirements

All Doggy Daycare guests must be at least 12 weeks of age, and dogs older than six months must be spayed or neutered.  All dogs Town license paperwork is required to be valid by the State of Connecticut (new laws in place since 2022), and be up to date on the following vaccines:  Rabies, Bordetella (every 6 months), Distemper, Parvovirus, Canine Influenza, including a current negative Fecal Exam.

Before joining our Doggy Daycare Program, you will be asked to fill out a questionnaire about your dog’s behavior and temperament.  On your dog’s first day, a staff member will meet and evaluate your dog.  Upon successful completion of evaluation, your dog will be introduced to other dogs in the program.  If your dog does not get along with other dogs or has trouble socializing, there are other daycare options available.  Your dog may be permitted to stay with us, but not allowed to play with other dogs.  Instead, your dog will receive one-on-one attention from our staff members.  We also have a trainer on staff to help with any problem areas.

Daycare safety

Playtime can be a fun, positive experience for your dog.  However, play can be rough and accidents can happen when dogs roughhouse, chase and jump on each other.  Trained staff members monitor all playtime activity, though we cannot control every dog individually.  Scratches, torn nails, sprains and strains are all hazards of the play room.  We have licensed veterinarians on the premises at all times and any injuries will be treated by our veterinarians.

It’s not uncommon for dogs to get messy during playtime.  Play can get dirty, especially due to weather conditions.  Dogs drool and mouth each other during play, as well as romp around in the pools and puddles.  If your dog gets dirty during daycare, we may recommend a bath for your dog.  Please ask a staff member for more information about bathing options.  We’d love to have you visit our Doggy Daycare group-please call us at (860) 693-0603 to arrange a tour.
